xElements Product Overview

xElements is a program for generating Bohr diagrams of elements. These diagrams are frequently used in high school science courses to introduce students to the atoms and ions of the various elements. This program will automatically generate different isotopes and ions of the first 20 elements (the ones that work with the "octet rule"), which can then be exported, copied, or dragged into other applications such as iWork (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote), OmniGraffle, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, etc.

RailsMan

RailsMan allows users of Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) to manage Ruby on Rails applications from a single window. It continues in the spirit of the now-discontinued Locomotive, providing a simple interface for managing Rails apps on your development machine.

RailsMan is still in very early development stages. It seems to work, at least on my machine, most of the time! It’s quite possible that if you’re doing something out of the ordinary (e.g. using a different ruby or rails stack than the default Leopard one) that it just won’t work at all. Please give me feedback if you run into troubles! I’ll do the best I can to get it working on as wide a variety of setups as possible.

RailsMan is released under the GPLv2 licence. It is free to use, and source code is available from Sourceforge.net.

If you would like to support the development of RailsMan, you may do so by donating. Probably more importantly, though, you can get involved in the development. Drop me an email if you would like to help out.

About Rosborough Tech Co.

Welcome to Rosborough Technology Co., specializing in in great software for Mac OS X. Many of our products are intended for educators, including xElements, xNumberLines and xTest. MacSudoku, currently our most popular offering, is a puzzle game that appeals to a very wide-ranging worldwide audience.

The software you will find here was written from the ground up for Mac OS X. I am a firm believer that OS X (and it’s open-source X11 cousin GNUstep) is the ideal development platform for students to learn object-oriented programming. I am currently developing a curriculum around Cocoa or GNUstep to teach OOP at the high school level.

There are several more projects on the go that will hopefully be released in the next year or two - although time is tight since I’m currently working on a Masters degree in Educational Technology, which restricts my “programming free-time” drastically. Keep your eye on the site for the latest announcements.
